ACSAIR INITIATIVE · EST. FOR AFRICA
Investing In African Innovations That Improve Lives
The African Innovation Fund for Development identifies, finances and strengthens high-potential African enterprises and initiatives that respond to real development challenges, moving promising solutions from early promise to sustainable, continental impact.
- PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Bridging promising ideas and the resources to scale them.
Across the continent, entrepreneurs, community leaders, researchers and young people are developing solutions that can improve lives yet they often lack the capital, technical guidance, networks and evidence systems needed to grow sustainably.
AIFD exists to respond to that gap. The fund provides mission-aligned financial support and capacity-strengthening to African-led solutions that demonstrate a clear development purpose, a credible implementation pathway and the potential to create measurable social, economic or environmental value.
“We do not only ask whether an idea is innovative – we ask whether it is relevant, inclusive, practical, measurable and capable of improving lives at scale.”

- A DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
Why young people and women are central to AIFD.
Young people and women are already building enterprises, leading community initiatives, producing food and solving problems where formal support systems remain limited. AIFID reduces persistent barriers – limited finance, weak networks, lower investor visibility by giving intentional attention to youth-led, women-led and women-serving solutions.
- – Create employment, income, ownership and leadership opportunities
- – Serve markets where women, girls and young people are underserved
- – Strengthen participation in agriculture, technology, research and governance
- – Build pathways from informal activity to scalable enterprise models
